USA number two, Amanda Sobhy,  scored the upset of the tournament so far beating third seed Laura Gemmell to move into the round of 16 at the World Juniors.  Watch the end of the match below:

Gemmell, Canada’s number one player, was a pre-tournament favorite but the 16 year-old Sobhy took a late lead in the fourth and never looked back.  Sobhy came out strong and took a two game lead only to see Gemmell fight back from a 6-3 deficit in the third to win a tight 11/9 game.  However, Sobhy played a strong fourth and built another lead that proved to be insurmountable.  “That’s probably my best win so far, certainly the best in Juniors!” excaimed an excited, and exhausted, Sobhy after the match.

Both Team USA and Team Harrow had a strong morning at the tournament as another American Harrow Player, Libby Eyre, also scored an upset win of her own over Kimberely Hay of England.  Eyre will join Sobhy in the final 16.
